Merry Christmas!

I'm still getting over my terrible cold, and I'm way behind on blogging. (Already!)  We never got around to sending out a Christmas card this year (boo).  I'm hoping next year when we have a pudgy, new baby to show off, we'll have a little more motivation.  We hope you enjoy this Christmas video from Harper instead!  Jeff just actually pieced this together using this program for the first time, so it doesn't really make sense.  But, I think its quite cute--and I'm not biased at all. :)

snow, cold, and sickness

Well, we survived the big snowstorm!  It was actually kind of nice to not be able to go somewhere for once.  I had big plans to get a lot of baking done, only to find that my wonderful husband had used up most of my eggs! Boo. I had to settle for some yummy, homemade cinnamon honey butter.  Jeff got us all plowed out (in about two hours!) on Sunday morning since church was cancelled.  I ran out (its cold out there!) and got my eggs and was able to get a little baking done.

I had been sick last week and stayed home one day and thought I was getting better. But, as the weekend wore on, I started feeling more and more tired. I've been home today and yesterday trying to get my "lady" voice back.  It's pretty stinky being pregnant and sick because you can't take any medicine.  I've been subsisting on hot water and honey and vitamin C drops.  Harper has been keeping me company, so I've at least had a tiny, little heater in bed next to me.  (Its a good thing she snores or I might forget she's there and roll over on her.)  She can be a little annoying when she's awake, though.  She always lays on my belly between me and the laptop (or my book or magazine or whatever I'm doing at the moment) to remind me she needs my attention.

Anyway, other than being sick, I've been feeling really good (pregnancy-wise). It's really nice to have my energy back and to start puttering around the house and getting stuff done. I think I felt the baby move Friday night, and I've noticed my lower abdomen getting hard.  It's pretty crazy! I'm really enjoying pregnancy for the most part and am excited to start showing a little more.

Our FurBaby, Harper

Harper is the baby of our house for now. We know we're pretty ridiculous when it comes to our dog, but we love her so much! She's pretty smart and understands a lot of things we say to her. "Are you hungry?" drives her wild. We have had to change it to "Are you starving?" when we talk to each other so Harper doesn't go crazy and keep running back and forth from us to her dish.

Her grandparents love her, too. My mom loves to spoil Harper when she comes over. Jeff's parents are much more obsessed with her, though. We've let them have her for a week or so on a few occasions because they enjoy having her around so much. (They are very protective, too. We found out just how much, when she came home with a doggie carseat!) Linna gets most of the credit for the majority of tricks that Harper knows. Shaking hands, rolling over, and her most recent, jumping through a hoop. (To our credit, we taught her how to get the newspaper recently! We're still working on the drop it part...she brings it in the house and wants us to chase her while she carries it in her mouth.)

Here's a video of Harper showing off her mad hops. (We don't have a hula hoop at our house, so we used an old bat pillow that Jeff made in home economics. ((I didn't even take that! Guess we know who the seamstress will be in our house!)) )

11 week ultrasound

Here's our first ultrasound of our little dumpling at 11 weeks. Clearly a very active little person! I loved watching the baby "swim" around. "He" was actually moving around a lot more than this, but this is the video we got from the technician.(I'm not complaining! I know most people don't even get video.) We even saw tiny, little fingers! Hope you think "he's" as cute as we do!

First Post!

Okay. Here it is! My first blog post on Soy In Love. Ha! Thanks to Angie for the fun blog name! I'm going to try to update this thing on a regular basis. Our life isn't too exciting, so keep your expectations low, people.
